The life of all Ukrainians has changed dramatically with a full-scale invasion of Russia. The changes affected all spheres of our life: family, education, entertainment, health, travelling and so on. The war also influenced the educational sphere. In this article we will talk about the difficulties which may arise during studying and in general how this process is held in our country in current conditions.

Schools, Universities, Colleges
Since February 24, 2022 all the participants of the state education system of Ukraine have been undergoing changes. Children had to become mature faster since innovations impose considerable responsibility on young but adult students, as well as their parents and teachers.
What has changed?
- Form of education. Now in Ukraine there are a few forms of education: online, offline, home education, external and mixed (a week online and a week offline). Only those establishments with fully-equipped shelters can work offline. All the other educational institutions work remotely or provide a mixed type of education. These days universities choose the form of education themselves. Some schools offer parents to choose the most comfortable way of education for their children (online, offline, mixed), but some schools/colleges and universities have to choose only online education (since a lot of educational establishments are fully destroyed in eastern and southern regions of Ukraine it makes it impossible to get back to offline education). Until September 2022, only the online form of education was held throughout the country.
- Responsibility. While having an online form of education most responsibility to provide knowledge to students and explain the material in the right way lies on teachers. While having online education this percentage of responsibility is divided between parents (for elementary school kids), teachers and students themselves (self-studies). Undoubtedly, the student also has a great responsibility for his knowledge. Because of the blackout, the absence of internet or mobile connection, the role of the teacher is transferred to the parents who have to explain this or that topic to the child. Older children and students can learn and understand the material themselves but elementary school children may face some difficulties.
- Convenience. On the one hand, incline education is really comfortable. You can do it wherever you are. You don’t have to waste your time stuck in traffic jams, you don’t have to get up one or two hours earlier, you can study wearing pajamas for example or being abroad. But there are some disadvantages: power, internet, connection. Unfortunately without these components it is impossible to study online. On the other hand, there is offline education. The main advantages are communication and socialization, getting information personally, and better organization of the study process.
- Conditions. In the conditions of war, during alerts, schoolchildren are forced to stay and study in bomb shelters. Alerts can last for a few hours which can have a negative impact on the study process and emotional health of both children and teachers and imposes considerable responsibility on teachers for the lives of children. At home, the conditions are «homey» and comfortable, but during alerts, no one can guarantee safety, so it's still worth going down to the shelter.
There are such situations when studying at state education institutions is impossible. For example, in the occupied territories, students do not have the opportunity to receive education because they don’t have the access to personal documents (certificate, diploma, record book, etc.), which makes it impossible to switch to another educational institution on the territory controlled by Ukraine. In this situation training courses which offer a vast variety of directions may be helpful: Art, marketing, IT, psychology, accountancy, decor, 3D modeling and so on. With the help of courses you can get the knowledge you want for quite a short period of time, find the sphere that you are interested in and get your dream job in the sphere you have chosen.
Training courses can be in two formats – online and offline. Sometimes companies offer a choice of both forms of training. Because of the unstable situation in the country, the change of location and the blackout, more and more often people choose online education. Why? Because it’s very convenient. You can get connected to the course using a mobile phone, laptop or tablet, with a cup of aromatic coffee or tea, on the way home, in traffic, etc.
